Donate a cow

Farmers can get involved by donating cattle. If you have the means, you are welcome to raise the beast on your property until they are ready for market. Alternatively, we are happy to find agistment. Please get in touch with our team if you're interested in donating a cow.

About Cambodia

Cambodia is a country of incredible spirit and culture — but in many rural communities, poverty continues to hold families back. Years of political unrest, war, and underinvestment in infrastructure have left regions like Siem Reap without reliable access to education, healthcare, or safe housing.

Nearly 1 in 5 Cambodians live below the poverty line. In remote villages and floating communities, this poverty is most visible in the lives of children — many of whom go without basic nutrition, clean water, and a chance to learn.

The Challenge for Cambodian Children

Children in rural Cambodia are often the first to suffer and the last to be helped.

  • 1 in 3 children under five is malnourished and suffers from stunted growth.

  • Only 68% of children make it to lower secondary school.

  • Many live in makeshift homes, vulnerable to storms and flooding.

  • Clean water and safe toilets remain out of reach for thousands.

  • Girls and children with disabilities face even greater barriers to education.

Why We Choose to Work in Cambodia

Cows for Kids was founded in 2019 after our co-founders visited Cambodia and connected with community leaders and local families. What started as a conversation around an orphanage quickly grew into a mission — one that blends practical relief with long-term, sustainable change.

We focus on Siem Reap and surrounding areas because:

  • The need is real — but so is the opportunity to help.

  • Communities are engaged and welcoming, ready to work alongside us.

  • Local leaders are invested, making our impact stronger and more sustainable.

What We're Doing

Since 2019, we’ve grown from a small idea into a registered Australian charity making a meaningful difference:

  • Built or rebuilt 6 homes in Kampong Phluk’s floating village

  • Planted 70 fruit trees and supported 110+ students at a local school

  • Funded an English teacher and essential supplies at a nearby orphanage

  • Delivered food, clothing, school packs and shoes to families in need

  • Raised funds through cattle agistment and community fundraisers in Mount Gambier, South Australia
